VISITING US

Parking
  • PARKING is available at the Wick Avenue Parking Deck (M30) - 459 Wick Ave. There may be a $5 charge but there are always parking spaces. After parking, take the elevator to the 4th level, and then take the pedestrian bridge across Wick Avenue. Go between the Butler Art Museum and Maag Library and follow the signs to the left.

  • Handicap Parking: There are two SMALL handicap parking lots: 121 Lincoln Ave. (Corner of Hazel & Lincoln), and 80 Lincoln Ave (between the planetarium and Jones Hall-look for the Jones Hall sign at the bottom of the drive)

  • Street parking/other parking: MAY be available on Lincoln, Phelps, Wood, and Hazel streets. The meters are currently not enforced so parking is free, although university students will often take advantage of those options.  In the evening, the lot behind the Public Library  (104 East Rayen Ave) is also an option.

  • DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING LOT BEHIND MERCY HEALTH/CHIPOTLE. YOU WILL BE TOWED

Visitor Information:

  • Public shows are typically scheduled September through May. All public programs at the Ward Beecher Planetarium are FREE and open to the public. Reservations are not required. See our Public Schedule for information on upcoming shows.

  • More information is available by calling the Planetarium Info Line at (330) 941-1370 or the Department of
    Physics & Astronomy at (330) 941-3616 from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays.

  • NOTE: Because it is dark in the Planetarium (and it's not safe to navigate the steps in the dark), latecomers CANNOT be admitted.

  • Children are always welcome. However, the very dark room may be a problem for some little ones. In addition, sound travels VERY well in the room. Parents are asked to use their discretion when attending the shows.

  • Most Saturday afternoons are family matinee times. These 2:00pm programs are geared toward families with children. See the Public Schedule for suggested age suitability.

Directions:

  • The Ward Beecher Planetarium is located in Ward Beecher Science Hall at 100 Lincoln Avenue, just west of Wick Avenue. For interactive directions, click here.
